They must be smoking too much pot over there because these cars just don’t age. It’s like classic collector’s heaven. Some day I will def buy a used, clean example of an enthusiast car to maintain its showroom condition.

Why not buy an example that can be restored to showroom condition, and make one more nice example, they certainly aren’t making more.

Bakersfield cars are in even better shape. Dry as can be and not so many LA drivers to smash your car.

Also, other places just have horrible cars. We visited cape cod and I couldn’t believe the amount of rust on late models. Salting roads is foreign to me.

It hasn’t snowed here in 18 years.

Or come up to NorCal. All that wine and tech money means that people have some amazing machines socked away and serviced by the best mechanics. It’s also a better climate so there’s less chance rubber bits dry out from environmental exposure.

Most R107s here need to die. They might look well preserved cosmetically, but i assure you they’re clapped out. We might not have winter or road salt, but we also don’t have state inspections other than biannual smog so you can drive a complete wreck as long as it passes emissions.

Come to the PNW. Slightly more rust, but less sun damage.

I’ve been disappointed when visiting LA - sure there are cool old cars, but most of them are already cherished. When I first visited years ago, I had this idea that I would “discover” a nice fintail on every other block, and weird cool old stuff everywhere. Nope, all the nice ones are slumbering away in garages already.

And yet you see not that many nice older cars driving around there. Maybe I am just not hitting the right areas but it generally seems like the majority of things are newish. It is like people don’t realize they are living in museum quality weather and can keep anything from rusting forever! People definitely dont wash their cars enough though. Some high levels of dust accumluating on some vehicles.
